ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting this morning that the NFL intends to stick to Tuesday for the twice-rescheduled Steelers-Ravens game, which was originally to be played on Thanksgiving, then was moved to today and finally ended up on Tuesday night.
According to sources, nine Ravens players and eight staffers who have tested positive for the coronavirus and there were no new cases from Baltimore on Saturday.
On Saturday, the Steelers announced that running back James Conner had tested positive and was added to the Reserve/COVID-19 list, meaning he would be ineligible for Tuesday’s game, as well as next Sunday’s home game versus the Washington Football Team.
Schefter’s report says the NFL is on identification, isolation and containment, which is why the Ravens-Steelers game was moved to Tuesday and why the Saints-Broncos game remains scheduled for Sunday despite Denver not having any quarterbacks.
The Broncos announced on Saturday night that their three eligible quarterbacks – Drew Lock, Brett Rypien and Blake Bortles – were each deemed to be high-risk COVID-19 close contacts and none of the three can be in uniform for Sunday’s game. They apparently came in contact with quarterback Jeff Driskel, who tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday.
