It’s a quick turnaround for Indiana County’s two Final Four basketball teams in the PIAA Girls Double-A playoffs.
The Blairsville Bobcats enter their game with Bellwood Antis on the strength of a dominating 38-13 win over Reynolds. And Coach Ralph McGinnis is certainly familiar with the Blue Devils. The Bobcats beat Bellwood Antis 44-37 in the District 6 semis.
Bellwood knocked off Chartiers Houston by 15 points on Friday despite playing without 6-foot star Alli Campbell for long stretches. Campbell struggled with foul trouble but still scored 23 points.
Chuck Clark will have the expanded pregame at 6 o’clock on Cat Country, 106.3 FM, with tip scheduled at 7 at St. Francis University.
The action tips off tonight at 6 o’clock at Chambersburg High School with Penns Manor taking on West Catholic of Philadelphia. The Comets are coming off an inspiring come-from-behind win over Minersville on Friday night. They trailed by five points heading into the fourth quarter but poured it on down the stretch to come away with a 7-point win.
The West Catholic Burrs have won four straight District 12 titles, and despite having a record of only 12-12 entering the state playoffs, they are a formidable opponent. Their schedule was packed with power schools from the Philadelphia Catholic League. They come into tonight’s game off a 50-49 win over Mahanoy Area.
Expanded pregame airtime tonight will be 5 o’clock. Of course, should Penns Manor and Blairsville both win, they would play each other in the state championship game on Thursday at noon in Hershey.
