Westmoreland County Judge Meagan Bilik-DeFazio has set another new trial date for 38-year-old Ray Shetler Jr. It will be the ninth attempt at a trial for the man accused of brawling with county detectives and state police as they tried to arrest him in December of 2021 at a mobile home outside of Seward.
The most recent scheduled trial date was June 5th, but it was delayed yet again. The judge has set August 7th for the next attempt.
Shetler is charged with two counts of aggravated assault and single counts of resisting arrest and attempting to disarm a law enforcement officer. He’d skipped a probation hearing and when police and sheriff’s deputies caught up to him, he fought with them and injured one seriously while suffering injuries himself.
