While this may be the weekend to wear your green, attendees at a fundraiser last night wore their red to help the American Red Cross.
The American Red Cross Chestnut Ridge chapter held their seventh annual “Paint the County Red” celebration last night at the Indiana Country Club to help raise funds for the Red Cross. The celebration included a special honor for First Commonwealth Bank for their ongoing support of the Red Cross. Mike Price, President and CEO of First Commonwealth Bank said that he has always been inspired to help the Red Cross ever since he saw them help people in the floods that hit Johnstown in 1977.
Also on hand last night was an example of the aid that the Red Cross can provide. Joanne Lonsdale, a longtime teacher in Indiana, was the keynote speaker, as she recounted her experiences when her home burned down in 1997. She said in her speech that she had given a lot in her life, but when the Red Cross came by to help her, she had to learn to receive help as well, and that was tough.
The night included various fundraisers including an auction of luxury prizes, a silent auction, and even a variety of mystery gifts for sale.
