After news broke about the death of Isaac Kelly last night, many of his friends gathered to mourn his passing and remember good times.
Kelly, a 17-year-old Homer-Center senior, passed away due to injuries he suffered Tuesday night in a collision on Route 119 south just past the Homer City-Center Township line. State police say that Kelly was running on 119 North, and leapt over the center divider when he was hit by a car going south on 119. State police were assisted on scene by Homer City Fire Department and the Indiana County Coroner’s office.
A group of Kelly’s friends gathered at the home of Ric Brown, where they hung out as they grew up. Kelly was remembered for his athletic prowess by Gavin Brown, who graduated from Homer-Center last year. He ran with Kelly on cross country and said that he was “insanely built” and talented as an athlete in more than just running.
One of his friends, Homer-Center senior Hanna Clark, said that not only was he a kind person, he was also dedicated.
Counseling will be made available to students through the Homer-Center High School, that according to Principal Jody Rainey, and an announcement on how that will take place will be released later today.
