Downtown Indiana, Inc. has released more details about this year’s version of the Welcome Mat program that was well-received by incoming IUP students and their parents.
Last year was the first year that Downtown Indiana, Indiana Borough, the county chamber of commerce, the Indiana Tourist Bureau, IUP and was in partnership with the Indiana Area Collaborative Team or I-ACT. These entities worked together on several Welcome Mat events that were meant to inform parents and students about the Indiana County area and have the students meet members of our local authorities and government. The events were held during IUP’s freshmen orientation at IRMC Park.
This year, the Welcome Mat events will be held completely on the IUP campus, but parents will be given the opportunity to take a tour of the community. This change was in response to parent feedback saying they wanted to get more information on financial aid. There is still an opportunity for members of Downtown Indiana, the Chamber or the Tourist Bureau to be seen during the Welcome Mat events as there will be coupon books and welcome bags put together for the events that will happen in April, June and July.
Businesses interested in taking part can call Downtown Indiana, the Chamber or the Tourist Bureau for more information.
