Home runs by Henry Davis and Ke’Bryan Hayes weren’t enough as poor pitching from the bullpen forced the Pirates into a 6-4 loss to Miami, marking their 10th straight defeat.
Joe Block reports.
Game two of the series is tonight. RHP Luis Ortiz (1-3, 4.30 ERA) goes for Pittsburgh. LHP Jesus Luzardo (6-5, 4.09 ERA) goes for Miami. 6:15 airtime on WCCS.
The Pirates yesterday placed OF Bryan Reynolds on the 10-day injured list retroactive to June 20 with a back injury. RHP Cody Bolton was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis to fill his spot on the active roster.
The Pirates also unveiled their Nike City Connect uniforms Thursday morning. It consists of a gold cap with a black “P” on it, a gold jersey with “PGH” stitched in black across the chest, and 1970s-like black pants with gold trim. Also on the jersey are symbols representing Pittsburgh, like an upside-down “Y” to indicate the three rivers.

They will debut the uniforms Friday, June 30, and will wear them each Friday home game throughout the rest of the season.
