New coronavirus cases have prompted the Penns Manor School District to extend the learn-at-home model for its high school students today, while elementary students will continue with in-person instruction.
The district says it was notified by both a parent of a high school student and the state Department of Health that a high school student has tested positive for coronavirus, and two high school employees has also tested positive for the virus. There are no current cases at the elementary school.
The student was last in school last Wednesday, November 18th. One of the employees has not been in the school since Friday, November 13th and the other since last Friday, the 20th. The district and Department of Health have worked together on contact tracing.
The plan is for high school students to study remotely today and return for in-person instruction next Tuesday, December 1st. Elementary students will be in their school today, and will return after the Thanksgiving break, on December 1st. The elementary students are scheduled for early dismissal today at 1:10 PM.
The district’s remote parent/teacher conferences will go on as scheduled.
