Jury selection for the trial of one of the suspects in the 2020 Carriage House shooting has been continued after an issue was discovered with his attorney.
Indiana County District Attorney Robert Manzi said that the jury selection for Delmar Chatman was scheduled to start on Monday, but his court appointed attorney was recently hired by the county public defender’s office, which created a conflict of interest. Chatman now needs to get a new attorney, so jury selection is suspended until a new one is appointed.
Chatman is one of four suspects in the shooting death of Jadeyn Wright on October 17th of 2020. He, along with Terrion Gates of Johnstown, Isabella Edmonds of Indiana, and Isaiah Moore of Philadelphia, allegedly went to Wright’s apartment that night to purchase marijuana but the encounter turned violent and Wright was shot. The four fled the scene after that.
No word on when the jury selection will take place, but District Attorney Manzi said that a pre-trial conference may take place in September to bring the new attorney up to date. Meanwhile, Edmonds is due for a criminal call hearing on August 4th, with jury selection scheduled for Moore on August 21st, and for Gates on September 18th.
