A Pennsylvania state trooper was shot to death and a second trooper was shot and injured in separate but related incidents yesterday afternoon in Juniata County. The suspect in the shootings was also shot and killed.
No names have been released as yet. The wounded trooper is in an area hospital, apparently with two serious gunshot wounds. No condition report has been released. The incident began at about 12:45 PM near the Lewistown state police barracks as a trooper was driving, or as he was making a traffic stop on the suspect. Shortly before 3 PM, the suspect was located in Walker Township and a gunfight ensued, with a trooper being fatally injured and the suspect also shot and killed.
Governor Shapiro and the State Police commissioner were reportedly at the hospital where the injured trooper was taken.
