There’s some off-field problems for the Pirates concerning transportation. Reports say that the driver hired to transport the Pirates from Chicago to Milwaukee by bus was charged with DUI Thursday night.
Illinois state troopers that were escorting the team bus noticed that the bus was moving in an erratic manner around 11:28 PM. 61-year-old Ronald Funderburke was pulled over and later arrested for drunk driving and taken to Chicago’s Police Department. Pirates Senior Vice President of Communications Brian Warecki said that the team and equipment eventually made it to Milwaukee safely.
The team normally contracts the work out to local companies for short trips like that, and they are in communication with appropriate parties.
