Cathy M. Powers, 69, of Hollidaysburg, passed away Friday, March 9, 2018, at UPMC Altoona Hospital.
A daughter of the late William A. and Lois M. Stephens Glassford, she was born June 25,1948, in Indiana.Mrs. Powers was a graduate of Penns Manor High School. She received a master’s degree in English from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a specialized in reading degree from Penn State. After 32 years as a teacher, Cathy retired from Spring Cove School District. She was a member of the Hollidaysburg choir. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing the piano, traveling and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband of 45 years, Daniel P. Powers, of Hollidaysburg; two brothers: William Glassford and wife Kathy, of Indiana; James Glassford and wife JoAnn, of Clymer; a sister, Connie Morris and husband Larry, of Elizabethtown; nephews and niece: Bill Glassford, Ken Glassford, Tim Morris, Matthew Morris, Bill Weaver and Jami Gill; and she loved her cat, Katie.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Robinson-Lytle, Inc., where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Jack Lucas officiating. Interment will be in Stephens Cemetery.
