Some mail-in ballots in Indiana County for the 2020 General Election were disqualified after a meeting on Thursday of the Indiana County Board of Elections.
Indiana County Chief Clerk Robin Maryai said that a total of 16 ballots were received between November 4th and 6th. Those ballots, per a state Supreme Court ruling, had to be set aside and not included in totals. For the ballot to be eligible, it had to be postmarked by 8:00 PM November 3rd. The election board reviewed each of the ballots and had to disqualify three of them because they had errors in the voter declaration on the envelope, like a mismatched address.
Maryai added that the county received six additional ballots between November 4th and 6th, but those ballots were not postmarked by 8:00 PM.
The ballots have not yet been added to the totals, but because the number of contested ballots is so low, they are not expected to affect any of the final results.
