After another case of Covid-19 was reported in East Pike Elementary School, the Indiana Area School District announced that the school will be closed to face-to-face instruction until after the Thanksgiving break is over.
In an announcement posted to the district’s website, district superintendent Mike Vuckovich said that a new case of Covid-19 was reported Friday morning at East Pike elementary. Vukovich announced that class would be dismissed at 11:30 Friday morning and the school building would be closed to in-person education starting Monday, November 16th. They hope to reopen to in-person instruction on Tuesday, December 1st, which would be the day students return to class after Thanksgiving Break. The other elementary schools in the district, along with the junior and senior high schools will remain open as there are no active covid-19 cases in the elementary schools and only one active case in the secondary schools.
Students at East Pike will be sent home with an information packet with an online instruction schedule. All special education services will be provided remotely by the child’s teachers, and lunch pick-up will be made available at the high school.
