The state Liquor Control Board yesterday announced nearly $2.2 million in license fees returned to 1,223 municipalities across the commonwealth.
The disbursements are made twice a year to the towns and townships in which liquor license holders operate, including fees paid by restaurants, clubs, and hotels. Fifty cities, 456 boroughs, and 717 townships will receive funds.
In Indiana County, $1,250 will be distributed in four municipalities. The largest distribution will be $600 to Green Township. $300 will be returned to Indiana Borough, $200 to West Wheatfield Township, and $150 to Clymer Borough.
The payments are for fees paid by liquor license holders between August 1st last year and January 31st this year. Across the state, the amounts paid range from $10 to $894,000.
