Representative Jim Struzzi says the Republican House Policy Committee will hold hearings this week to examine the governor’s budget proposal from an energy perspective, but he says the inclusion of funding to hire workers for the implementation of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative is a “red flag” for him.
Struzzi last week attempted to add an amendment to a resolution supporting unions in Pennsylvania, asking rhetorically where the support was for union jobs at the Homer City Generating Station, saying that the shutdown of the plant has already begun and that it would be “shuttered” in October, but it was defeated by the Democrat majority, which said the amendment was “masquerading” as support for unions when it really only was about the fossil fuel industries in his own backyard.
