State Police in Greensburg have closed a case of theft by deception that started back in December due to the recent shooting death of a Burrell Township man.
Troopers say that a case against Stacy Livingston was closed due to his death in a matter not related to their investigation. State Police in Indiana said on Saturday that Livingston was shot after he broke into a home on Hill Drive in Burrell Township in violation of a protection from abuse order. Livingston was shot by one of the adults in the house.
Police out of Greensburg say that Livingston had set up a home improvement scam in the Derry Township area that ran from December 18th to February 23rd. Livingston had offered Jack McDonald to do some home improvement to his house, and Livingston was paid $2450 to do the work. Several months passed, and then Livingston allegedly altered two $15 checks from McDonald to the amounts of $4015 and $1500 to bring the total amount stolen to $7965.
The case is now considered “terminated” by police due to the recent shooting.
