The Steelers wrapped up OTAs yesterday at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex, and afterward announced that players will report to training camp at St. Vincent College in Latrobe on July 26th, with the first practice the next day.
All of the sixteen public practices this year will begin at 1:55 PM with the exception of the final one, August 17th. That one, two days before their home preseason opener, will begin at 10:30 AM. The Friday Night Lights practice at Latrobe Memorial Stadium is scheduled for August 4th at 7 PM. Practices will be held on ten of the first eleven days of camp, with the players having July 31st off.
As always, fans can attend for free, but you must have a mobile ticket. Season ticket holders will be offered tickets first via Ticketmaster at 10 AM on June 27th, followed by waitlist members at 11 AM and the general public at noon. See the training camp schedule below.
Training camp reporting day on July 26th will be on rookie cornerback Joey Porter Jr.’s 23rd birthday. Porter says the OTAs were a great learning experience. His teammates learned a lot about him, too, with veteran cornerback Patrick Peterson, a former All-Pro, saying Porter could one day be a better player than he is. Porter says he’s learned a lot from Peterson and his fellow defensive backs, like rookie Corey Trice Jr.
Porter says the OTAs opened his eyes about the talent at the NFL level.
