Four brush fires were reported in Indiana County yesterday, bringing the total number of brush fires to 66 for the year so far.
On Tuesday, a brush fire was reported on Mentcle Road in Pine Township at 1:41 PM. Cherry Hill and Pine Township fire departments were called out for that call. Two acres of land burned, part of it was grassy field, and the other part was a lightly wooded area. Amy Muir of the Pine Township Fire Department said that the fire started when a nearby homeowner was burning debris.
A second brush fire was reported at 2:53 PM on Tuesday. Indiana County 911 dispatched Marion Center and Plumville Fire Departments to Johnston Road in East Mahoning Township for a construction incident. Marion Center fire officials say that construction workers hit a power line. Two workers were electrocuted and the field caught fire because of the fallen power line. The two were taken to the hospital for treatment. Marion Center fire officials say that a 10 ft by 100 ft area along the edge of the road caught fire.
Blairsville and Black Lick fire departments were called out at 4:26 PM for a brush fire reported on Lear Road in Burrell Township.
A fourth brush fire was reported on Blackleggs Road in Young Township at 4:58 PM. Coal Run and Iselin fire departments were dispatched.
