Air quality will be an issue once again for many in Western Pennsylvania, including Indiana County.
The county, like most of the region will be under a Code Orange Air Quality Alert until 12:00 tomorrow morning. The advisory, issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, says that the alert this time around is for ground-level ozone in the atmosphere. Air pollution concentrations within the region may become unhealthy for sensitive groups of people, including the very young, the elderly, and those suffering from asthma, heart or other lung diseases. The high concentrations of air pollution have been mostly due to the smoke and particles from the wildfires in Eastern Canada making its way south, affecting Pennsylvania and several other states.
The negative effects of air pollution can be minimized by avoiding any outdoor exercise or strenuous activity.
