Indiana Area School District superintendent Michael Vuckovich announced on Monday that a staffer at East Pike Elementary has tested positive and a student was deemed a “probable positive” case.
The district was notified about these cases on Monday. Vuckovich said he expects the PA Department of Health to quarantine one to three other adults as a result of their exposure to the positive employee, but they feel no students will be quarantined related to either case. This marks the first cases at East Pike that the district is aware of. The Department of Health is working with the school nurse and the administration.
Vuckovich recommended that the school remain open as the cases were not related, and the decision falls within the guidelines implemented in the district safety plan.
