At Steelers OTAs yesterday, tackle Dan Moore Jr. worked some on the right side, perhaps signaling that he will serve more of a swing role this season rather than anchor the left side. Moore has started the last two seasons on the left but this year’s top draft choice, Georgia tackle Broderick Jones, may get that job now. Moore continues to take first-team snaps at left tackle for the most part.
Yesterday’s workout was the final session of this week. The final four OTA sessions will be Monday through Thursday next week.
Newly acquired veteran cornerback Patrick Peterson is impressed with the pace of the OTAs and is looking forward to training camp at St. Vincent next month.
Another newcomer is fourth round draft choice Darnell Washington, a 6-7 tight end known more for his blocking than his pass catching. He says he is looking to change that by becoming a part of the Steelers’ air attack, and he has the quarterback, Kenny Pickett, to get it done.
The Steelers held their annual PNC Rookie Luncheon yesterday at Acrisure Stadium. In addition to all of their first-year players, quarterback Kenny Pickett was there to accept the Joe Greene Great Performance Award, for being voted the top Steelers rookie last year.
It was also Steelers Media Day, with players shooting photos and promotional videos.
