The criminal docket sheets against Ray Shetler Jr. have officially been changed from “active” to “closed”, with the exception of his theft case, which is listed as “adjudicated”.
The 33-year-old New Florence man remains in the Westmoreland County Prison a week after being found not guilty of murder in the shooting death of Saint Clair Township Police Officer Lloyd Reed Jr. in November of 2015. Shetler was also acquitted of domestic abuse charges involving his girlfriend, but was found guilty of theft and receiving stolen property. A pre-sentencing investigation is underway and he will be sentenced within ninety days. He has not yet posted the $100,000 bond imposed after last week’s verdicts.
A candlelight vigil in honor of Officer Reed will be held in New Florence starting at 5:30 tonight at his memorial in New Florence Park.
