Jury selection is scheduled today in Indiana County Court for a drug trial involving 34-year-old Vincent Lamar Jackson of Euclid, Ohio. He was taken into custody last August as police were serving a warrant on another person at a home on Schoolhouse Road in Burrell Township. A state trooper saw various items of drug paraphernalia in plain view and further investigation showed that they belonged to Jackson. He also had a large amount of cash on him, and police determined that he has flushed drugs down a toilet when he saw the troopers approaching the door. Jackson is charged with possession with intent to deliver, conspiracy to the same offense, criminal use of a communication facility, possession of a controlled substance, and of drug paraphernalia. His trial will be held before Judge William Martin.
Jury selection will also be held for the trial of 25-year-old Jesse Lee Collier of Indiana, who is charged with obstruction and disorderly conduct for an incident last July.
A number of defendants will be sentenced today in county court, including:
- 20-year-old Almando Rodriguez of Philadelphia, who pleaded guilty to conspiracy to criminal trespass in a robbery case. In exchange for his plea, additional charges including robbery and recklessly endangering were not prosecuted, and an aggravated assault charge was dropped at District Court.
- 22-year-old Jelahn Williams of Philadelphia will be sentenced for burglary and escape, with agreement for non-prosecution on other charges, including aggravated assault
- 71-year-old Robert Kinnan of Glenn Campbell will be sentenced for a no contest plea to corruption of minors. A charge of indecent assault of a person less than 13 years old will not be prosecuted.
- 26-year-old Halim Thrower of Indiana will be sentenced for possession with intent to deliver.
- 36-year-old Nicholas Horning of Leechburg will be sentenced for simple assault, disorderly conduct, and harassment.
