Many municipalities across Indiana County are paying tribute to those who died serving in the U.S. Armed Forces with several events scheduled throughout the day.
The first event will be a Memorial Day service in the cemetery St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Glen Campbell. During the event, the parish will honor deceased members of its congregation, especially those who served in the armed forces and those who died serving in combat.
In Blairsville, a parade will take place starting at 10:30 a.m. The parade route starts at Ernie Widmar Memorial Field and will go to the Veterans Memorial, down by the amphitheater and Riverfront Trail. Groups interested in participating are encouraged to be at the football field by 10 a.m.
Indiana will hold its annual Memorial Day ceremonies at Memorial Park along South 6th Street at 10:30. The program will be hosted by members of the American Legion and a luncheon for members will follow.
At 11 a.m., Plumville will hold a parade, while Homer City holds a service at the American Legion Post 493.
Marion Center’s Memorial Day parade gets underway at 1 p.m. It will start at the “Y” and end near the high school. Following that, a service will take place at Marion Center Cemetery.
