As Halloween approaches, several boroughs and townships have announced that Trick or Treating will go on, but they advise everyone to be careful when going out and about.
Trick or Treating is scheduled for:
- Black Lick Township from 2-4 PM. A parade will be held through the Black Lick Fire Department at 1:00.
- Blairsville Borough from 2-4 PM
- Clymer Borough from 2-4, but there will be no Halloween Parade this year
- Marion Center from 4-6 PM
- Indiana and Homer City boroughs and Center and White Townships from 6-8 PM
One municipality has cancelled trick-or-treating, and that is Young Township. According to their announcement, the cancellation is due to concerns due to Covid-19.
Indiana Borough Police are asking trick-or-treaters to practice social distancing in keeping six feet apart from other groups, and to use hand sanitizer and wear a cloth or surgical mask when possible. Also, if you or someone in your home is not feeling well, has a fever or is under quarantine, please stay home. That’s on top of the standard safety tips including wearing things that will make youngsters highly visible, keeping aware of your surroundings, and only accepting candy in factory-sealed packaging. If you’re going to distribute candy, have your porch light on and consider individually-sealed treat bags or sliding candy down a chute to prevent kids hands from roaming in candy bowls and to maintain social distancing, and if possible, provide some hand sanitizer just in case.
