Day Three of Steelers OTAs featured newly-acquired wide receiver Allen Robinson II running out of the slot receiver position in his limited participation. Robinson is still not fully recovered from November foot surgery and is, he says, taking it slowly and making sure he is ready and good to go for the season.
As limited as his work has been, he’s seen enough of his new quarterback. Robinson called Kenny Pickett “wise beyond his years” and said he remembers watching Pickett play for Pitt. He likes what he’s seen so far, including Pickett’s leadership.
Another acquisition coming off foot surgery is inside linebacker Cole Holcombe. He had his surgery in December and said he too, is limited during OTAs. But Holcombe says he will be ready to go full speed when training camp arrives in July.
The Steelers have signed another undrafted rookie free agent. Cody Chrest played his college football at Sam Houston State after starting his college career at Harvard. Chrest signed with the Colts after the draft but was released when the team signed some of its tryout players following rookie minicamp.
