The Pittsburgh Steelers led by as many as 20 points Sunday at Tennessee, but victory was in doubt until Titans kicker Stephen Gostkowski missed a 45-yard field goal with 19 seconds remaining and the Steelers (6-0) remained undefeated with a 27-24 victory.
The Titans (5-1) staged a second-half comeback and would have forced overtime if Gostkowski’s kick counted.
For the Steelers, Diontae Johnson caught two touchdowns and JuJu Smith-Schuster had nine catches for 85 yards. James Conner ran for 82 yards and nine players caught passes altogether.
The Steelers survived three Ben Roethlisberger interceptions. The last of them came when Amani Hooker snagged a pass in the end zone with a little more than two minutes left to play in the game. Roethlisberger was 32-of-49 for 268 yards overall.
It’s the first time in franchise history the Steelers have scored at least 25 points in all six games to start a season. With a 24-7 lead at the half, they are one of only two teams (Kansas City Chiefs being the other) to score at least 24 points in a half twice this season.
With the win, the Steelers are the last remaining undefeated team in the AFC.
