Judge Thomas Bianco has scheduled a motions hearing today for 20-year-old Justin Stevenson, one of two defendants charged with killing a Cherryhill Township couple at their home outside of Clymer in October of 2016.
The often-delayed hearing is in consideration of an omnibus pretrial motions filing last August by Stevenson’s attorney, David Schrager. Judge Bianco last month denied a defense motion for additional discovery. Schrager claimed that the audio and video of the interrogation of Stevenson after his arrest had been altered in some way, but the judge said they were “full and accurate…and had not been edited in any way.”
Stevenson and 19-year-old Nathan Price are charged with killing Timothy Gardner and Jacqueline Brink during a drug deal at the victims’ home in Cherryhill Township in October of 2016. Police say the two defendants planned to rob Gardner, but they beat him to death, and then killed Brink because she was a witness. Two young children who were sleeping at the time of the incident were not harmed. A third suspect, Isaiah Scott, was originally charged as an adult, but Judge Bianco transferred his case to juvenile court.
Both Stevenson and Price are both scheduled for Criminal Call on April 6th. No trial date has been set. D.A. Pat Dougherty will seek the death penalty for both defendants.
