We are one week away from the start of fall turkey hunting season in most areas within the state, and this year hunters can expect more days to hunt.
In preparation to the adjusted hunting schedule this year, the Pennsylvania Game Commission released a breakdown of the dates hunters are permitted to hunt, based on which Wildlife Management Unit, or WMU, they live in.
Indiana County is split down the middle by WMUs 2D and 2E, and the time-frame given to those areas is Oct. 31 to Nov. 14. Six other units share the same window, and they are units 1A, 2A, 4A, 4B. 4D and 4E.
In addition, the Game Commission wants to remind hunters that, while wearing fluorescent orange apparel is not mandated, it is still recommended especially when moving around.
The Game Commission has a full report on hunting conditions and additional information on hunting dates on their press release located at media.pa.gov/page/game-commission.
