An Indiana woman was fatally injured yesterday in a two-vehicle crash on Route 56, just east of the Route 954 intersection in Center Township.
State police say an eastbound car driven by Lisa Jean Cooper of Rustic Lodge Road crossed the center line and collided head-on with a tri-axle dump truck driven by 57-year-old Robin Smith of New Florence. Cooper died at the scene. Smith was not injured.
The accident happened at 10:17 AM and the highway was closed for a number of hours afterward. Indiana County Coroner Jerry Overman Jr. says an autopsy will determine the cause and manner of death.
