A Cherry Tree man was arrested yesterday on drug-related charges after a traffic stop in White Township.
State police say that at 4:04 PM, troopers pulled over a car driven by John J. Styslinger after he ran the red light at the intersection of Oakland Avenue and Plaza Road. During the traffic stop, the trooper asked an unnamed passenger in the front seat to get out, and when he did, the trooper saw brass knuckles in plain view in the front passenger door pocket. When police conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle, they found a black magnetic concealment box on the floorboard of the passenger side containing two plastic resealable baggies with crystal-like substances in them, 23 Buprenorphine Hydrochloride tablets, 11 multi-colored ecstasy tablets and 14 empty baggies. Troopers also found a black pouch and that contained a tied-off plastic baggie with a crystal-like substance and a digital pocket scale with suspected methamphetamine residue. Troopers also found a white stamp bag with white powder between the passenger seat and the center console.
Styslinger was charged with felony possession with intent to deliver, misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and of drug paraphernalia, and prohibited offensive weapons along with the summary traffic charge. He was arraigned in front of district judge Christopher Welch and was taken to Indiana County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail. A preliminary hearing is set for November 2nd at 1:30 PM.
