The arson trial of Dylan Dalessio was to be held this week, but the case has expanded, and this week his attorney filed information waiving his formal arraignment on the latest charges.
Dalessio and fellow former firefighter Nicholas Leone were charged a year ago last Friday with setting three fires in northern Indiana County, destroying a barn, a storage building, and an Amish furniture shop. In addition, Dalessio and his father had been charged in February with attempting to intimidate a witness in the case.
The latest cases were filed last month, and state police did not release details. They occurred an arson committed on June 4th of 2018, another arson committed December 29th of that year (the same date as one of the other arsons for which he was originally charged), and a case for which he is charged with seven felony counts, four for insurance fraud and three for conspiracy to insurance fraud, dated in February of 2019. The new arson cases involve unoccupied buildings, and one of them includes additional charges for risk of death or injury and corruption of minors.
Dalessio and Leone are both from Plumville. Both are free on bond. Leone is not charged in the new arson cases.
