A couple from Coral were arrested this morning on charges of child endangerment and reckless endangerment after an investigation at their home late last night.
State police were called out at 10:53 PM to a home on Locust Street for a report of an unresponsive 22-year-old woman, later identified as Tiffany M. Howard. Police say she may have overdosed and was reportedly combative with Citizens Ambulance personnel who responded. When state police got there, they found extremely unsanitary conditions inside the home and a one-year-old child in a portable crib, also in an unsanitary state. Troopers also saw multiple items of drug paraphernalia in plain sight in the home, including two grinders, four smoking devices, two marijuana containers with residue and a straw with white residue on it.
Indiana County Children and Youth Services were summoned to the scene and the child was taken to Indiana Regional Medical Center for evaluation and treatment. Both Tiffany Howard and her husband, 28-year-old Michael C. Howard were taken into custody. The two had their arraignment hearing this morning and were ordered to be held in Indiana County Jail in lieu of $5000 cash bail. Preliminary hearings for the couple are scheduled for November 2nd at 1:15 PM in front of District Judge Christopher Welch.
