The Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors has named White Township Supervisors Vice Chairman George Lenz to its “Townships Over 10,000 Population Committee”.
The committee addresses common problems of the state’s larger municipalities. One of its chief current concerns is Governor Tom Wolf’s plan to impose a $25 per-resident fee on larger townships that have no police force to pay for state police protection. In White Township’s case, that would amount to $395,525, based on a population of 15,281 residents.
The State Association of Township Supervisors represents 1,453 second class townships, covering 5.4 million residents. That’s more than any other political subdivision in Pennsylvania.
