Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate dropped to its lowest recorded rate in history during the month of April.
The unemployment rate dipped one-tenth of a percentage point in April, bringing it to 4.1%. That matches the lowest recorded rate in Pennsylvania history, going back to January of 1976. By comparison, the U.S. unemployment rate went down a tenth of a percentage point as well to 3.4%
Pennsylvania’s civilian labor force was up by 4000 over the month. The total number of non-farm jobs went up 11,000 to a record-high of 6,117,100 jobs. This marks the fourth month in a row that jobs have reached an all-time high. Jobs increased in seven of the 11 industry super sectors, with the largest gain seen in education and health services. Professional and business services also rose to a record-high level.
