Steelers coach Mike Tomlin says his undefeated team is excited for the challenge of facing the 4-1 Cleveland Browns on Sunday at Heinz Field.
At his weekly news conference, Tomlin said his patchwork offensive line is going to have to deal with the ferocious Browns’ defensive front, led by Myles Garrett.
Cleveland lost to Baltimore in the season opener and has won four straight since then. The Steelers are playing their first AFC North game of the season.
Tomlin said it will be all business for the Steelers, who will be playing the Browns for the first time since Garrett clubbed quarterback Mason Rudolph over the head with his own helmet last November.
Guard David DeCastro is the least likely of the injured Steelers to play after suffering an abdominal strain on Sunday against the Eagles. Center Maurkice Pouncey will be limited in practice this week after suffering a foot injury on Sunday. Wide receiver Diontae Johnson took a direct hit to the lower back but could play this week. Tomlin said fullback Derek Watt and safety Marcus Allen are running again and could return as well.
Former Steelers star Le’Veon Bell was released by the New York Jets yesterday after they failed to find someone to take him in a trade. In 17 games with the Jets, Bell averaged just 3.3 yards per carry and failed to clear 1,000 yards. The Jets are 0-and-5 this season.
