In Indiana County Court today, Judge Thomas Bianco is scheduled to conduct motions hearings for seven defendants, including one who is charged with attempted homicide.
19-year-old Daron Reel Jr. of Philadelphia is one of four men accused in the armed robbery of the residents of two rental units along Wayne Avenue in Indiana on Valentine’s Day this year.
Reel is the only one of those four accused of attempted criminal homicide and two counts of aggravated assault. Police say he shot one of the robbery victims, with the bullet going through his chin and neck and lodging in his shoulder. The man survived. In August, Reel filed a writ of habeas corpus and a motion to dismiss the charges. Judge Bianco will focus on those two issues at the hearing, but Reel has also filed a motion to remove his public defender, which could slow down the case’s adjudication.
Judge Bianco will also conduct motions hearings for felony drug defendants Jakeb Paul Schrecengost of Indiana; Donald Hawk II of Hamilton, Jefferson County; David Lee Walker Jr. of North Versailles, Allegheny County; and Malik John Meterko of Indiana. He will also conduct hearings on motions filed by misdemeanor drug defendants Morgan Elise Paulding of Erie; and Jonette Mae Kennedy of Punxsutawney.
