The Penns Manor School Board last night approved some new programs related to student retention and emotional support.
The board of directors approved three contracts with Ignite Solutions group. The company out of Cambria County formerly did business as “The Learning Lamp” and provides educational services to public schools. One of the three contracts signed will provide Penns Manor with a transitional classroom outside of the Penns Manor campus dedicated to help potential drop-out students academically. That classroom is located at the Admiral Perry Vo-Tech school. The other two agreements will provide classrooms at Penns Manor’s campus for emotional support at both the elementary and high school.
In other business, Business Manager Josh Muscatello said that budget talks are progressing well and they do not anticipate needing anything above the Act 1 index. At their prior meeting in January, the board passed a resolution to not increase taxes above the Act 1 index.
