An earthquake struck the Bolivar area early yesterday, but it does not appear that anyone was aware of it.
The U.S. Geological Survey says the 2.9 magnitude earthquake was centered east of Gray Station Road, south of Blairsville, at around 12:30 AM. It occurred about five kilometers beneath the surface.
Earthquakes of 2.9 magnitude on the Richter scale are categorized as minor, felt slightly by some but rarely causing any damage.
