After taking a 29-24 lead late in the fourth quarter, Pitt allowed North Carolina State to drive the ball 79 yards and score the game-winning touchdown with 23 seconds left as the Wolfpack handed the Panthers their first loss of the season, 30-29 at Heinz Field.
Pitt committed thirteen penalties for 125 yards in the game, including eight flags that gave NC State a first down.
Panthers quarterback Kenny Pickett was 22-of-39 for a career-high 411 yards, but the Pitt run game was stuffed and they scored only two touchdowns on five trips inside the Wolfpack 20, including once from the one-yard line.
After starting the season with four home games, Pitt hits the road for a game next Saturday at Boston College. It is scheduled to kick off at 4 PM.
