The Penguins have signed goaltender Tristan Jarry to a three-year contract with a salary cap impact of $3.5 million.
The 25-year-old Jarry was the team’s second-round draft choice in 2013. He made the NHL All-Star game this season, playing 33 games and finishing with a 20-12-1 record, three shutouts, and a 2.43 goals-against average with a .921 save percentage.
The Pens’ other goalie, two-time Stanley Cup winner Matt Murray, was 20-11-5 last season with one shutout, a 2.87 goals-against average, and an .899 save percentage in 38 games.
Murray will become a restricted free agent on Friday and General Manager Jim Rutherford said the team will tender an offer to him and most likely go through arbitration. Murray is on the trading block.
