Today is the start of the State Police’s campaign to get more people to wear their seatbelts.
State Police are taking part in the national “Click It or Ticket” campaign, which starts today and runs through June 4th. As part of their patrol duties, troopers will focus on proper use of seat belts and issuing citations for violations, according to Trooper Jessica Tobin.
A major part of the campaign is an educational component, as Tobin said that many, but not all Pennsylvanians buckle up. Seat belt usage among Pennsylvanians is currently at 89.6 percent. State police want to increase that number to 91 percent by year’s end.
