It was a great day for West Shamokin on the course at the Scotch Valley Country Club in Hollidaysburg yesterday, as the Wolves won the District 6 AA team championship and had the top two golfers.
West Shamokin soared to a 26-stroke victory over Penn Cambria. With four teams qualifying for the District 5-6 Sub-Regional on October 14th at Ebensburg Country Club, the Wolves move on as District 6 champs along with Penn Cambria, Tyrone, and Saint Joseph’s.
The District 6 champion is West Shamokin’s Eric Spencer, who fired a 74 for a one-stroke margin over Wolves’ teammate Jack McCullough. They were the only two Heritage Conference golfers to make the state championship field October 19th at Heritage Hills in York.
Other Heritage Conference golfers in the field yesterday were Homer Center’s Evan Ober, who shot 89; West Shamokin’s Sean McCullough, with a 90, and Northern Cambria’s Brady Houser, with a 101.
