Today, students that attend the Homer-Center High School will log on instead of catch the bus as the district orders an all-online format for the high school for this week.
The announcement came as the district reported four students who had tested positive for Covid-19 and several others had gone into quarantine. The decision to shift to virtual learning came after a discussion with the PA Department of Health. The time off will allow the district to perform a thorough cleaning and disinfecting of school facilities. While extracurricular activities are expected to continue, the announcement of the positive cases of Covid-19 did cause Marion Center officials to postpone last Friday night’s football game. No word yet on when that game will be made up.
The district is offering food pickup from the cafeteria on instructional days when the building is closed. Orders need to be placed by 9:30 each morning. The district is offering lunch and breakfast for the next morning if it is requested. The form to fill out to place those orders is on the district website, www.homercenter.org
The high school closure will not affect elementary school students as there have been no reported student cases of Covid-19. Their classes will continue as scheduled.
