Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf is asking those to speak up with their opinions on the topics of gerrymandering and congressional redistricting.
To that end, he has opened a new portion of his website so that people can submit their opinions on the matter. The issue has become a hot topic over the last month or so. The US congressional map is set to be re-drawn after the Pennsylvania Supreme Court in late January declared the existing districts were unlawfully gerrymandered, or illegally manipulated to favor one political party. The General Assembly has until February 9th to re-draw the map, which will be submitted to Governor Wolf by the 15th, but if the State Government fails to meet the deadline, the federal government will step in and draw its own map.
Governor Wolf said he has met with people across the state and gathering opinions on the redistricting. He held listening sessions in State College, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia on the topic and is now opening it up to all Pennsylvanians through the Governor’s website.
