The Pirates have gotten off to a horrible start in the month of May, but they hope to turn it around this evening as they open a five-game road trip in Baltimore. Joe Block has a brief preview.
The 21-17 Pirates are 1-8 in the month of May. Despite that, they are still in first place in the National League Central, with a half-game edge over Milwaukee. The Orioles are currently second in the AL East at 24-13.
The Bucs will visit Detroit for two games next week before returning to Pittsburgh to begin a series against Arizona.
ALTOONA CURVE
Tyler Samaniego gave up two runs on four hits in the top of the 9th inning and Altoona lost to Akron, 4-2. Sean Sullivan had a good start for the Curve, going six innings and giving up two runs on seven hits, while striking out three. Liover Peguero hit his second home run and Connor Scott had two hits. Henry Davis cooled off, going 0-for-4.
Aaron Shortridge starts for the Curve tonight in the series’ fourth game.
