A preliminary hearing is scheduled next Wednesday for a Latrobe man who is accused of robbing a woman by forcing her drive him to an ATM along Route 22 in Burrell Township and withdraw $100 for him.
31-year-old Robert Thomas was taken into custody by Blairsville Borough Police and arraigned on Monday on charges robbery, burglary, criminal trespass, and terroristic threats for the Sunday night incident. Police say he forced his way into the woman’s apartment on South Spring Street in Blairsville and threatened to shoot her unless she gave him money. She told him she didn’t have any money but could get some at the ATM, so he forced her at gunpoint to drive her there. A witness alerted police of suspicious activity and they pulled over Thomas’ car on West Campbell Street, finding “realistic looking” gun that was actually a BB gun.
Thomas is being held at the Indiana County Jail, with bond set at $50,000.
