The State System of Higher Education last week began hosting a series of virtual forums featuring executives from key industries meeting academic and community leaders.
The “Workforce Assemblies” are designed to help the State System ensure that the academic programs at the state-owned universities are in line with the workforce needs of Pennsylvania’s employers. They focus on six high-demand industries, including advanced manufacturing, agribusiness, energy, finance and business services, healthcare, and information technology.
Over the next year, universities and community colleges will use the information to align their programs with workforce needs.
The forums for the western and eastern regions were conducted last week. The northern and southern region forums will be held this week.
