At a special meeting Tuesday night, the River Valley School Board approved the preliminary budget for next school year.
The budget comes to $36,414,156 for both revenue and expenses, but it presents a 14 percent increase in the cost of healthcare. Despite this, Superintendent Phillip Martell was pleased that it would contain no tax increase for district residents.
The vote went six-to-two with Beverly Caranese and Melanie Pantalone voting against the budget. Pantalone explained why she voted against it.
The budget will go up for final approval in June.
